Fungi - Mushrooms and Puffballs : Ivory Waxy-cap Mushrooms
Hygrophorus eburneus
The combination of a viscid (gooey and sticky) cap and stem distinguishes this Hygrophorus from several other white waxy-caps in our area.
All of these bugs are caught in the goo on the mushroom cap.
Most of these critters are springtails, and the larger one might be a fungus gnat.
Did someone say viscid means gooey and sticky?
The inside of the stipe/stem is not hollow.
